1900: Warner, Wisconsin is renamed 'Ladysmith' in honor of Charles Smith's wife. His company bought the land by the Flambeau River and their plans brought people flocking to the area. However, 'Ladysmith' never visited her namesake.
1916: Charles R. Smith dies; daughter Sylvia inherits house. She promptly ripped out the decor installed by her stepmother and chopped off the third floor of the tower.
Sylvia and Donald Shepard live in the family home.

Sometime after Sylvia's death, the house was targeted to be turned into a nursing home, but this fell through.
